  • Q:

What is the smart uninstaller in Dr.Cleaner?

    A:

Dr. Cleaner has a smart uninstaller which allows the user to delete leftovers of an app more thoroughly right after user moves it to Trash.
    To use this function:
    1. Move one app to Trash.

    2. Dr. Cleaner will scan the leftover files of this app automatically and prompts the user to delete these files in a popup window. Click “Deeply Uninstall” button to remove these leftovers.

    3. Dr. Cleaner will clarify how much disk space it will save for you.

  • Q:

Why does Dr.Cleaner need permission to access the user home folder?

    A:

Dr. Cleaner is an app running in the sandbox on the Mac App Store. To meet Apple’s privacy security policies, user permission is required.

Without being granted user permission, Dr. Cleaner has no access to the user home folder to scan junk files, big files, or duplicate files.

  • Q:

Why is memory usage shown in Dr. Cleaner close to 99% while the activity monitor shows a different value?

    A:

The memory usage shown in the system status bar of Dr. Cleaner means the memory used by the system and 3rd-party apps.

Dr. Cleaner defines the used memory as the total number of “Memory Used” and “Cache” memory indicated in Activity Monitor.

The “Cache” memory couldn’t be reassigned by system before it got released. It is what Dr. Cleaner actually does for users.

However, system takes this part as free memory. So in most cases, the used part plus cache memory is close to 99%.

  • Q:

Why can’t some files in Trash be deleted?

    A:

Some files or folders may be locked. Since Dr. Cleaner is a sand-box app in the Mac App Store, Dr. Cleaner does not have permission to access locked files or folders.

If a folder is locked, Dr. Cleaner will not list the folder and will not delete it.

If a folder is unlocked, unlocked files in the folder can be deleted, but locked files still cannot be deleted.
